The family of a man killed in a fatal multivehicle collision near Knook have paid tribute to him.

Officers from Wiltshire Police had been alerted to an incident taking place on the A36 heading westbound in the early hours of Saturday morning (May 31st).

When responders arrived, they found that a car had collided with three motorbikes, requiring immediate medical treatment.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 62-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later.

The remaining two motorcyclists were taken to hospital, where their condition has been described as "serious".

In a statement published through the force, the victim of the collision has since been named as Rob Best.

Posting a tribute, the family of Rob wrote: "On Saturday, 31st May, our beloved Robert Best lost his life in a road traffic accident. We would like to thank those who stopped and helped Rob and his friends to support them whilst waiting for the emergency services.

"Rob was loved and adored by all who knew him. He dedicated his life to being a good husband, father, son, brother and friend.

"Rob always sought the next adventure, whether that was going up the Empire State Building for his 60th or scuba diving in Mauritius. Rob and his friend from his local scooter club were on their way for their next adventure to Normandy when the tragedy happened.

"He leaves behind his extensive family and friends, all of whom are devastated by his loss. We ask for privacy to process during this difficult time.

"His loss will leave a hole in our hearts that will never be filled. He had an impact on so many lives and will continue to live on in our memories."
