Jobs at risk at South Western Ambulance Service
Corporate Support Services need to save £5 million this year
There's a warning that jobs are at risk for those who work at the South Western Ambulance Service Trust in their bid to save millions of pounds.
It comes as part of their work on giving patients the 'best possible care', with Corporate Support Services having to save £5 million.
We're told frontline clinical roles will not be impacted, and out of the Trust's more-than 6,000-strong workforce, they're looking at making up to 40 people redundant.
A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: “As part of our responsibility to provide the best possible care to patients, while meeting national expectations for efficiency and value for money, the Trust has begun a consultation process within our Corporate Support Services.
“In Corporate Support Services we identified that we needed to save £5 million this year. For some time now, we have been taking steps to reduce costs through careful workforce and vacancy management, enabling us to make some of the necessary savings.
“However, despite these proactive measures, we now face the difficult reality that further action is required. We are therefore entering a period of consultation, which may result in up to 40 redundancies. We're hoping this number may be reduced by supporting employees into redeployed roles where possible.
“We want to be clear that this consultation relates solely to Corporate Support Services and does not impact frontline clinical roles.
“The consultation process is being carried out with care and in close communication with those affected, and we are committed to supporting all impacted colleagues throughout.”
