Clothing retailer Jaeger is to close the shop in Salisbury, it's administrators have announced.

The store in Butcher Row is temporarily shut at the moment and will not reopen it's doors.

In total, the fashion chain will be axing 103 jobs and closing 13 shops, a week after being placed into administration by it's owner Philip Day.

The shop on Butcher Row in Salisbury is already empty

They say said they will continue to search for a buyer for the business but made the cuts as Jaeger was "unable to sustain its current structure''.

FRP Advisory are also overseeing the insolvency of Jaeger's sister business Peacocks, who have 423 stores across the country.

There is no confirmation on whether any of their branches will be shut yet.

Tony Wright, joint administrator of Jaeger Retail Limited and partner at FRP, said:

"We continue to hold discussions with interested parties regarding a possible sale. Regretfully, redundancies have been made across a number of head office and store roles.

We're working with staff to support them and help make any claims to the Redundancy Payments Service.''

Philip Day's EWM Group had already placed Edinburgh Woollen Mill and the Ponden Home business into administration earlier this month.

MORE HIGH STREET TROUBLES

It's understood the Arcadia Group, which owns TopShop, Burton and Dorothy Perkins, is preparing to appoint administrators as soon as next week.

If the insolvency is confirmed, it is expected to trigger a scramble among creditors to get their hands on the company's assets.

Arcadia employs about 15,000 people, having announced about 500 head office job cuts earlier this year.

Salisbury's TopShop store was earmarked for closure last year

Salisbury's TopShop store in the Old George Mall was earmarked last May for closure.

But it was confirmed in January that the shop would actually remain open.
