COVID-19: Indian variant cases "remain low" in Wiltshire

Figures show a drop in all reported cases across the county

Wiltshire Council have confirmed that the number of Indian variant cases of Covid-19 in the county have "remained low".

Last week Wiltshire's Public Health Director Kate Blackburn said there was only a small handful.

There was at least one active case in the county, but it was fully contained.

We are being asked to continue engaging with test and trace as it's vital in stopping the spread of the virus

The local authority say that they are continuing to work with colleagues in PHE and across the health system to complete "effective enhanced contact tracing" to reduce the risks of onward transmission.

LATEST CASES

In the seven days to 20th May, there have been 33 positive cases in Wiltshire.

That's an decrease of 21 on the previous week.

This means the county's rolling rate per 100,000 population is at 6.6.

That's well below the national average of 22.5.
