There has been an increase in the number of shed break-ins, and bicycle thefts, throughout the Chalke Valley.

A rise in incidents over recent months has now prompted Wiltshire Police to arrange an event at the Broad Chalke Community Hub.

On Monday (17th Oct 2022) Police Officers will be forensically security marking bikes and providing advice. Cyclists are being encouraged to come along to get their bikes security marked.

Officers will be on site between 10am and 12-noon.

PCSO Jonathan Rose said:

“In recent months we’ve seen a rise in burglaries around the Chalke Valley. Amongst some of those, residents have had bicycles stolen from their sheds."

"To try to stop people becoming victims the Salisbury Neighbourhood Policing Team have joined with BikeRegister to mark and register bikes. We mark your property with police approved forensic marking solution that is only visible under Ultraviolet (UV) light. This helps us to identify stolen goods, making it harder for thieves to sell."

“We look forward to meeting local residents on Monday.”
