Improvements made at Tisbury and Salisbury train stations
South Western Railway's invested £6.5 million across the network
Tisbury and Salisbury train stations have been given some improvements, as part of a programme across the South Western Railway network.
It's part of a £6.5 million project by the operator aimed at 'enhancing the customer experience and attracting people to the railway as a greener and easier way to travel'.
At Tisbury, there's new benches on the platforms, made of sustainable, recycled plastic.
They're installed when existing metal benches reach the end of their life or become damaged.
There's also new benches inside the station buildings, with new upholstery.
The whole of Tisbury station's also had a fresh lick of paint in the last few months.
Salisbury station now has newly refurbished waiting rooms under the same project.
It includes softer seating than before, with location relevant murals, to provide a 'warmer welcome for customers'.
Calming features have also been incorporated, for the benefit of neurodiverse customers, such as relaxing coloured lighting, acoustic wall treatment to deaden sound, and plants.
Alistair Wright, Head of Infrastructure & Property at South Western Railway, said:
“Every year, we make significant investments to improve and modernise our network to make every journey easy and reliable. Some changes may seem small, but they make a real difference. A fresh lick of paint to brighten surroundings, and features that make navigating a station or using the toilet that much easier, can make travelling by train a much more pleasant and comfortable experience.
“Our stations are the heart of the communities we serve, and the teams can be really proud of the fantastic job that they have done to refresh and improve our spaces, particularly for customers with additional accessibility requirements.”
