The Chalke Valley History Festival returns to Broad Chalke this summer, with the event featuring distinct themes for the first time ever.

This year’s festival runs from Monday June 26th to Sunday July 2nd and features guests such as ex-Prime Minister John Major, Historian Simon Sebag Montefiore and comedians Al Murray and Ian Hislop.

The festivals six themes are: Environment, Conflict, Politics, Science and Exploration, Sport and Society and Culture.

The themes will be covered in five venues across the festival, with a new for 2023 Stove Tent, a 100-seater round tent featuring a central wood-burning stove.

Chair of the Festival James Holland said:

"This is a more integrated programme than ever before, and one that reflects the extraordinary times in which we’re living.

“We want everyone who comes here to have a brilliant time, and to enjoy themselves, because there’s such an incredible range of things to see and do.

“But we also hope they’ll be able to learn a great deal as well, and that our events will help people to contextualise what’s happening in the world right now.”

Tickets for the festival go on sale from Tuesday 25th April.
