An ice cream vendor in Salisbury says the recent heat waves have been very good for business.

The UK is being gripped by it's third heat wave in four weeks, with temperatures in the city predicted to reach 32 degrees, according to the Met Office.

Joanna Weaver runs Joanna's Gelato, and will be bringing her ice cream van to the Market Place today.

"It's definitely the perfect time of year for me," she said. "I do get quite excited, but then it's also quite hot for me as well in the van. So it's got pros and cons."

Joanna, who served Queen Camilla earlier this week, told Greatest Hits Radio that this summer has been more successful than the previous two, thanks to the weather.

"I've definitely done much better than I have done in my previous two years, basically because of the weather. I think I do also have more regular customers now, which is nice, but the weather has definitely impacted it," she said.

With the better weather meaning there are more days where people are out in the market place, its allowed Joanna to meet more people and attend more events with her business.

She says she finds herself checking the weather forecast a long way in advance to ensure she is stocked up for the busy days brought by the warm weather.

Joanna has her fingers crossed for another successful day in the Market Place, where the Charter Market opens at 8.30am.

Don't use rivers to cool off, says local council

Meanwhile in Chippenham, where temperatures could reach 34 degrees, the Town Council says people should avoid using rivers to cool off.

It says there are risks of cold water shock, unknown and unseen hazards under the surface and illnesses related to bacteria and microorganisms in the water.

It reminds people that the Splashpad in John Coles Park is open to children under 12 years old from 10am until 6pm.
