Police dogs from Hampshire are being deployed to Paris this week to help with security arrangements in the build up to the Paralympics.

They'll be in the French capital to make sure both athletes and spectators are safe ahead of the Games.

PC Paul Shutler and PC Dan Attwood will be taking PD Arlo and PD Cody over to the event, along with many other handlers and search dogs from forces across the UK.

PC Shutler said it's 'an honour and a privilege to represent UK policing as part of this operation for one of the greatest sporting events in the world'.

He also told us whether the dogs might be medal contenders:

"Cody and Arlo might not be any good in the high jump or be able to throw a javelin very far but they're the absolute best at what they do and I think they deserve a medal as well."

The Paralympics start on August 28th.
