High-flying pensioner to wing walk for Hampshire's children hospice
The sky is the limit for 76-year-old Andrea Silverman
Last updated 7th May 2021
A 77 year-old is taking to the skies for her birthday to raise money for Hampshire's local hospices for children, young people and their families.
Hoping to hit £20,000, Angela Silverman will be celebrating in style by 'Wing Walking for Naomi House & Jackplace.
At 10am on July 10th she will be strapped to the top wing of a Stearman Biplane, taking part in a series of flypasts, zoom climbs, steep dives and banks in front of family and friends.
The challenge was due to take place last year for 76th Birthday but was cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.
Angela said she's got two reasons for doing the challenge:
"To raise as much money as possible for a wonderful organisation; Naomi House & Jacksplace, I want to raise £20,000 and it is also a great way to celebrate my 77th birthday!"
It is not the first time she's taken on a daredevil stunt like this, she's Bungee jumped from the tallest bridge in South Africa, Tandem sky diving in Namibia and Maidenhead, water rafting in Zimbabwe, Para gliding in Rio De Janeiro and completing a Wing Walk was next on the bucket list.
Lucy Gray, Regional Fundraiser for Naomi House & Jacksplace commented:
"Wing Walking is such an innovative and exciting way to fundraise and to celebrate a special occasion. We are in total awe of Angela's fearless attitude and we can't wait to see her Wing Walk to raise money for Naomi House & Jacksplace this summer. Thank you, Angela!"
