The groundworks are now taking place in the Guildhall Square in Salisbury as it is prepared for a new sculpture.
The 'Turning Point' statue is going to be installed near to the War Memorial.
It was originally planned to be ready for last year as part of the 800 year anniversary of the city, but was delayed due to the pandemic.
Standing at 4.2 metres high, 'Turning Point' is made out of granite and is supposed to resemble a spire.
It was made by artist John Maine RA who gifted the piece to the city.
It is intended to be a 'marker of confidence' contributing to a sense of optimism for the future of Salisbury.
No exact date has been given for installation yet.
