It's been announced that Salisbury's Godolphin Prep school is to close at the end of this academic year.

In a letter to Parents, seen by Greatest Hits Radio, it's been confirmed that nearby Chafyn Grove school will join Godolphin as part of the nationwide United Learning Group.

Pupils are being offered places at Chafyn Grove.

Children will be able choose either site for their secondary education, with boys also being admitted to Godolphin for the very first time later this year.

The United Learning Group said the decision to close the Prep school was 'difficult' but the announcement of Chafyn becoming part of the group had 'given us an opportunity to consider what is best for our current Prep pupils and how we ensure that each child arriving for Godolphin Senior School is best prepared for a successful secondary education.'

United Learning say they're confident the new structure will ensure Prep pupils continue to receive an 'excellent' early education.

In the letter, they said: "We believe that with a close partnership with Chafyn Grove, together, we will be able to provide pupils and families with the highest quality Prep education that will be appreciated and enjoyed by all."

Both schools will remain separate entities with Chafyn pupils given the opportunity to access facilities at Godolphin.

Godolphin are contacting parents and families to arrange visits to Chafyn Grove and to meet headteacher, Simon Head.
