A girl's been hit by a car that failed to stop in Amesbury.

It happened at around 3.40pm yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 15th October) on London Road.

Police say the silver Mercedes, coming from the direction of Tesco towards the town centre, ran a red light and collided with the 11 year old child.

She luckily sustained only minor injuries.

Officers believe the area was very busy at the time and want to hear from any witnesses to the incident.

They've also thanked the members of the public who helped the child afterwards.

If you can help officers with any information, you're asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 54240121958.

You can also call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
