Around 75 people have been evacuated from their homes, and trains have been stopped from running, due to a gas leak in Salisbury.

Fire crews and gas engineers are on the scene at the CB Skips site off London Road, with an 80 metre cordon around the site.

We're told the leak is in a gas main, with efforts currently underway to cap it and make the area safe.

Anyone who smells gas is asked to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed.

The A30 London Road itself is closed between the St Thomas's and Hampton Park roundabouts, with heavy traffic in the area.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue say two crews from Salisbury, one from Wilton, a water carrier from Andover and an incident command vehicle from Devizes are on site.

They've said:

"DWFRS is working with other emergency services and partners to bring this incident to a conclusion as quickly as possible."
