It's been confirmed another patient has died at Salisbury District Hospital, having tested positive for Covid-19.

A woman's in her 90s, with underlying health conditions, passed away yesterday (Wednesday 9th March).

In a statement, the Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a patient who had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital and had tested positive for COVID-19 died on Wednesday, 9th March. The patient was in her 90s and had underlying health conditions.

"256 patients in total have now passed away.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with her family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

We're told there are currently 39 Covid positive patients being looked after at Salisbury District Hospital.

Their message to remain cautious still stands too:

"Although the government has lifted restrictions, the hospital’s COVID-19 measures remain in place until further notice. We remind visitors to the hospital that they must wear a face mask when in the hospital and have a negative lateral flow test before entering the buildings. They should not visit if they have any symptoms of COVID-19.

"In addition, with the current levels of COVID-19 still in our community, people should take up the invitation for a COVID-19 vaccine when offered. It is never too late to get a first vaccine.”
