Nearly £100k in funding to improve pedestrian access for two Salisbury villages

Wiltshire Council has awarded nearly £100,000 to two rural villages for new road and footway improvements.
£49,000 has been given to make some "much needed" footpath improvements in Nunton.
It's part of Odstock Parish Council, with contributions from them the Southern Wiltshire Area Board, and Wiltshire Council’s Substantive Highways Fund to make up the money.
A statement from the Parish Council said:
“It is great news that we are going to be able to put down a proper surfaced footpath for residents walking between Odstock and Nunton. Everything that helps people become more safe and active is welcomed.”
Meanwhile, there has been a boost for Quidhampton.
£46k has been allocated for both road and footway improvements.
This funding will provide a new kerbed footway in Lower Road, and a priority system at Locks Lane.
The project adds to measures already adopted by the village, which include a 20mph speed limit, regular monitoring by an active police-assisted Speed Watch Team, and the recent implementation of a Speed Indicator Device which also collects data on traffic volume and speeds in real time.
