Four of Salisbury FC promotion squad sign new deals
The Whites are preparing for the National League South next season
Salisbury FC has confirmed four of it's promotion winning squad have signed new contracts to stay at the club.
Josh Sommerton, Tom Leggett, Ryan Penny and Jaden Perez have all penned new deals to be part of The Whites first season back in the National League South next term.
Boss Brian Dutton says he's expecting big things from midfielder Perez, if he can stay fit.
"Jaden Perez is a player who has a lot of ability and was just beginning to show that before his unfortunate injury in the semi-final," he said.
He'll be able to renew his partnership in midfield with Penny, who has become a fan-favourite at the Ray Mac.
Dutton said: “Ryan Penny had a fantastic campaign last season. Incredibly he was playing step five football the season before.
“We snapped him up and he became one of our most influential players last season at step three. I have no doubt he can make the jump again and have another great campaign this time at step two."
Players' Player returns
Last season's Players' Player of the year, Leggett, is retained where is versatility in both midfield and defence will be crucial next season.
“Leggy won the players player at the awards night, and he fully deserved it," manager Dutton said.
He added: "He played in numerous positions last season, and he excelled in all of them, which is a testament to what a well-rounded footballer he is. We’re all delighted to secure his services for next season.”
Sommerton is approaching 200 appearances for the Whites and will move closer to that milestone with his extended stay at the club.
“Josh Sommerton had a stop-start season for the last campaign, but we all witnessed how vital he was to the Team when he was playing and also not playing.
“So I’m delighted to resign him, and with him being one of your own, it makes it even more special."
The club now has eight players under contract ahead of their upcoming National League South campaign.
Josh Hedges, Owen Dore, Aaron McCreadie, Ryan Gosney were the first four players to be retained for the 2024/25 season.
