A former Police and Crime Commissioner candidate for Wiltshire will stand trial in July next year for allegedly making a false declaration in his nomination papers.

63 year old Conservative candidate Jonathon Seed has denied a charge of making a false statement contrary to Article 21 of the Police and Crime Commissioner Elections Order 2012, and Section 168 (1) of the Representation of the People Act 1983.

Mr Seed won the election in May, however pulled out of the race due to an old driving offence, which meant a re-run was needed.

Mr Wilkinson will stand trial in July

Conservative Philip Wilkinson won the second vote in August.

Thames Valley Police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the election and passed a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Judge Ian Pringle QC listed Seed's trial for July 18th 2022.
