A planning application's gone in by Everyman

A former bingo hall on Salisbury's Endless Street could get a new lease of life - as a 'destination cinema'.

Everyman, which has cinemas across the country, including Winchester and Bristol, has put in a planning application to Wiltshire Council for the change of use.

If it gets the go ahead, it would have four screens, and a large lounger area for customers waiting for their films to start.

The planning application suggests Everyman wants to make 'significant upgrades and refurbishments' and 'improve the appearance of the building, which is currently dated and unattractive', while also 'enhancing the Art Deco style' at the site.

The building used to be a cinema from 1936 through to the 1970s, when it become a bingo hall.

Buzz Bingo were the last occupiers, but they closed in July 2020, during the first Covid lockdown.

If Everyman gets permission, they're planning to open from 9.00am to 1.00am, Sunday to Wednesday and 9.00am and 2.00am Thursday to Saturday.

We can comment on the Wiltshire Council Planning Application until July 7th, with a decision expected at the end of July.
