People have been paying their respects online to former Salisbury and England Rugby Union player Dave Egerton, who has died aged 59.

The No.8 started is career playing for Bishops Wordsworth's School in the city, while also playing for Salisbury RFC.

This was just the beginning of an excellent career, going on to play for Bath and Wasps after leaving Loughborough University.

He also ended up earning seven caps for England and played for the Barbarians and British and Irish Lions in 1989.

Many people have taken to social media to pay tribute, with Bath RFC calling him a "club legend".

On their website, they said:

"Off the pitch he was approachable and generous with his time – always having a story or anecdote that would bring a smile to others' faces.

Dave is sorely missed by us all at the Club - we will continue to share our tributes over the coming days and weeks, starting with lighting the Rec up on Friday night at 8pm. At the same time we kick-off away to Sale Sharks."

The tributes don't stop there either, with both Bishops Wordsworth's and Salisbury RFC, among others, also tweeting about Dave:
