An adult badger has been removed from a 'high security ammunition compound' in Wiltshire after forgetting where he dug to get in.

Wiltshire Wildlife Hospital received an 'anxious' call from the army when the badger got very annoyed because he couldn't find his way out.

Marilyn Korkis from the charity said he managed to dig several areas in an attempt to find his entrance but that tested the secure fencing.

"Apparently he wasn't very pleased to meet the security dogs going about their duty and they were just as confused and shocked to encounter such a grumpy individual.

"Luckily for Mike and I the Badger was curled up against a wall with his head tucked in tight, on tiptoe we approached from 2 different directions on an exceptionally windy day!

"We managed to box him in before he realized something was happening, with all sides of his escape route blocked and the front open ended cage against his head, persuaded him to go in."

HE WAS VERY ANNOYED

The badger spent the rest of the day at the hospital and according to Marilyn he was very, very annoyed.

He was given food and the promise of a return home later evening but, it seemed that he want to go back to where he was found.

"At 1am I returned with the Badger and offered him freedom within a few hundred yards of the secure compound (I'm sure I could see extra security lights on!)

"It took a while for him to face the right way with me wondering if I should have worn armour just in case.

"A slight tilt of the cage and off he waddled down the track exit stage right .......towards the compound!"
