Fordingbridge set to celebrate Platinum Jubilee
There's a few events in the town
A big picnic to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee is being held in Fordingbridge today (Thursday 2nd June).
From 3:30pm until 10pm,the Recreation Ground will be taken over by the community, all gathering to honour The Queen.
Fordingbridge Events Group and the Town Council have planned the event, which sees a whole afternoon of entertainment.
Cllr Pete White, who is also part of the Fordingbridge Events Group, said:
“It’s a full-on afternoon of entertainment that we have planned. We have several bands booked to play, a choir, Crazy Kev – who you may remember from the Fordingbridge Festival - as well as Best Disco taking us through seven decades of tunes.”
The music will be a tribute to her majesty as well, as it will go through all the decades she has reigned for, ending with 2020s.
The Rotary Club will also be holding it's charity duck race, with all money raised will be going to local community projects.
The event will also see the installation of a new beacon on the Recreation Ground so the town can be part of the lighting all over the country.
That will take place at 9:45pm.
It's free to attend, with all the timings on the Fordingbridge Events website.
