A new circular pathway is to be created around Fordingbridge Rec, with work getting underway today (Wednesday 24th July).

The Town Council say it'll help to provide better accessibility for leisure and recreational purposes.

The new path will link with the existing Riverside Walk and move around the football and rugby pitches.

Gravel and concrete will be used to form the walkway.

The route for the new pathway goes around the edge of the Recreation Ground

In a social media post, Fordingbridge Town Council said:

"It’ll be a welcome addition to our lovely town, whether walking your dog, meeting up with friends or taking an early morning jog.

"We will endeavour to keep disruption to a minimum for the duration of the works, which are timed around the sporting seasons."

The new pathway could also help with a push to introduce a weekly parkrun to Fordingbridge.

The Rec's already been deemed a suitable potential site by organisers, with a proper route likely to support their cause. |newtab)

It's expected to take around six weeks to complete works to install the path.
