Plans to bring parkrun to Fordingbridge
A weekly 5k run in the town has moved a step closer
Plans are being put together for Fordingbridge to have its own weekly parkrun event.
The idea has been raised by the local New Forest District Councillors, David Millar and Phil Woods.
They've asked Fordingbridge Town Council if they'd be in favour of hosting the 5Ks on Saturday mornings on the Recreation Ground.
After agreeing, representatives from the parkrun organisation have given it their backing, calling the site 'ideal'.
The next step would be gathering funding for set up, carrying out a risk assessment and bringing together volunteers to help run the events each week.
Parkrun events run across the world, all starting at 9.00am on a Saturday - as a free, family friendly activity.
The nearest existing parkruns to Fordingbridge are at Moors Valley Country Park, Blandford or Salisbury's Churchill Gardens.
