Flying Scotsman to visit Salisbury this week as part of centenary celebrations
The historic locomotive will be in the City on Wednesday
The historic locomotive the Flying Scotsman will be in Salisbury this week as part of it’s 100th anniversary celebrations.
The train, which was constructed in 1923 in Doncaster, will be in the City on Wednesday, travelling from London and along the edge of Salisbury Plain.
The Railway Touring Company (RTC), who running Wednesday’s service, are urging people in the area to view the train from a safe distance, saying trespassing on rail lines and prohibited areas of stations is dangerous.
To assist British Transport Police and Network Rail, and to keep us safe, the RTC won’t be publishing details of the trains route or journey times.
After construction, the train served as an express passenger train between Edinburgh and London before being withdrawn from service in 1963.
