Flu clinic opens up in old BHS store in Salisbury
More space is needed this year for the vaccinations.

Three Chequers Medical Practice have moved their 'Flu Vaccination Clinics' to the Winterslow Village Hall and the former BHS store in the Old George Mall in Salisbury.
Usually they host them at their Porton and Old Sarum Surgery, but this year, in order to care for the same amount of people and stick to social distancing guidelines, they needed more room.
They say the decision to not host it at their normal site has been a difficult, but necessary one.
In order to help patients of the village sites there will be extra clinics at the Winterslow surgery, but they are also welcome to use the city centre ones as well.
A statement from Three Chequers Medical Practice said:
"We would like to thank the OId George Mall, Salisbury for allowing us to use the former “BHS” store to host our City Centre Clinics. Using this store instead of one of our Surgeries will allow us to host, with all correct social distancing provisions in place, approximately the same number of patients as we could in an “ordinary” year, meaning that those of you who usually get a Flu Jab will be able to access the vaccine as easily as you would in any other year."
All clinics are currently by appointment only, with the dates already fully booked.
But they say more will be added, and you should regularly check their website for updates.
RECORD FLU JABS
The NHS and Public Health England have announced that they will be providing a record 30 million people with free flu jabs this winter across the UK.
They are extending the number of "eligible groups", so the following people will be offered one:
- People aged 65 or over
- In a 'at risk' group
- Pregnant women
- Children aged 2 and 3
- All primary school aged children
- Pupils in year 7
- Frontline health and social care workers
- Main carers of an older or disabled person
- Household contacts of people on the NHS Shielded Patient List
It comes as research shows those infected with Covid-19 and the flu are twice as likely to die.
