The flood alert, which asks local landowners and households to 'be prepared' has been issued as a result of yesterday's heavy rain.

It's in force for the stretch of the River Blackwater between Landford and East Wellow.

The Environment Agency says they water levels in the River Blackwater 'remain high', but are 'stable and slowly receding'.

MORE TO COME?

There is a concern that more rain is expected in the area of the River Blackwater, at the weekend and into next week.

In their flood alert notice, the Environment Agency has said:

"We will continue to monitor the forecast. Our operations staff will ensure the river remains free of any reported blockages."

They've also encourage home and landowners who have pumps to clear water from their properties to make sure they're operating correctly, in case they're needed.
