The health suite at Salisbury's Five Rivers Leisure Centre is being reopened to customers from next week (Monday 2nd September).

Wiltshire Council's kept the sauna and steam room on-site closed since early 2023 due to rising costs.

The reopening will be on a trial basis at the following times:

• Monday: 12.00pm – 8.00pm

• Tuesday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

• Wednesday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

• Thursday: 12.00pm – 8.00pm

• Friday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

• Saturday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

• Sunday: 8.00am – 4.00pm

Life Zone, Fitness Zone and Swim Zone members can get unlimited health suite access as part of the membership benefits, but all are asked to check in for their visit using either the self-service kiosk or at reception.

That's so the council can accurately monitor attendances.

The health suite is also available on a pay as you go basis to leisure card holders and non-members.

There's also good news for gym users at Five Rivers, as the refurbished and upgraded facilities will also reopen on Monday (2nd September).

The space has been redecorated throughout, with new flooring and lighting, as well as improved gym equipment.

A temporary gym in the sports hall has been in place during the three weeks of work.

Cllr Ian Blair-Pilling, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Public Health said:

“We know that lots of people have missed the Five Rivers health suite facilities, so we are pleased that we are able to run this trial and re-open them. I encourage those who wish to come and use the sauna or steam room as this will give us an idea how viable it will be in the future.

“We want to thank the members for their patience whilst we have been finalising the health suite reopening details and for utilising the temporary gym during the fitness suite works. We remain committed to ensuring that our communities have access to safe and well-maintained facilities, to enable people to prioritise their physical and mental health.”
