Extra road closures planned for Fisherton Gateway project
North Street will be shut for a week to allow for drainage works
More road closures are on the way as part of the Fisherton Gateway project in Salisbury.
The £3.2 million improvements are coming close to completion, but some additional works will be needed first.
North Street will need to be closed next week (Monday 15th until Friday 19th July), at its junction with Fisherton Street, to allow for drainage works.
We're told that's to prepare for the installation of a 'raised table' there.
As a result of the closure, a few other measures will be in place:
• North Street will temporarily become two-way to ensure access for residents, businesses and customers
• The parking bay outside 26 North Street will be suspended to make it easier for vehicles to turn around at the vehicular entrance to Jubilee Court.
• Vehicles exiting St Clements Mews will be directed to turn left only to minimise further disruption.
There'll also be overnight road closures on Fisherton Street itself next month.
It'll be shut from 8.00pm to 6.00am from 5th to 7th August for kerb installation, and again from 8.00pm to 6.00am from 12th to 23rd August for resurfacing works.
Cllr Nick Holder, Wiltshire Council Cabinet Member for Highways, Street Scene and Flooding, said:
“Creating vibrant and well-connected communities is a key priority for us. We are pleased to see these improvements taking shape and more areas opening up for public use.
“We appreciate the closure of this junction may cause some disruption for local residents and businesses and apologise for any inconvenience. Every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum wherever possible, and all local amenities in this area will remain open and accessible during the construction period.”
