Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has given out it's first Covid-19 vaccines to city residents.

The first people to receive the vaccination are those in the priority groups:

  • 80 years of age and older
  • High-risk and vulnerable NHS staff and care home staff

86 year old James Pratt and 83 year old Norma Pratt were some of the first patients to get the jab, while Consultant Anaesthetist Duncan Murray was the first staff member to be vaccinated.

Staff Nurse Catherine Hall, who is administering some of the vaccinations said:

“I’m thrilled to be vaccinating the first over 80s in Salisbury. This is a big step forward in getting life back to normal.”

PLEASE DON'T CONTACT THE HOSPITAL

The NHS Foundation Trust are now urging members of the public to not contact them about vaccines.

They will be in touch with people who are eligible for the jab to sort out an appointment.

Judy Dyos Director of Nursing said:

“We are delighted to begin this programme which is a big part of protecting our community. This is a marathon and not a sprint, and while starting the vaccination programme here in Salisbury is great news we must continue to adhere to all of the safety guidelines , please remember to regularly wash your hands, wear a face covering and keep your distance.”

Can members of the public please not contact the hospital; the NHS will contact you when it’s your turn to be offered the vaccine.”
