Old Sarum and Longhedge Community centre’s first summer pantry has served more than 50 meals.

As well as hot meals, there was an opportunity for parents to pick up some second hand school uniforms, for a donation of £1 to the Old Sarum Primary School PTA.

The sessions are funded by grants from Laverstock & Ford Parish Council, Abri and the Southern Area board.

In a post on Facebook, the Parish Council said it’s a “super” project.

“We were delighted to find the first summer community pantry at the Old Sarum and Longhedge Community Centre in full swing today (26th July).

“It’s lovely to see a community centre being used by the community in such a vibrant way.”

The post also praised Jess, Gemma, Nina, Sue and the rest of the team for getting the project up and running.

The session wasn’t limited to food, as there was activities for children and a chance for parents to enjoy a tea/coffee chat with friends.

Posting on their Facebook page, the Community Pantry said the session was what they envision when they think “community”.
