COVID-19: First death at Salisbury District Hospital for over a month

Salisbury District Hospital have confirmed that one patient has passed away there, having tested positive for Covid-19.

It's the first death there since the end of March.

This brings the total number of fatalities to 213 since the pandemic began.

A spokesperson for Salisbury District Hospital said:

"Sadly, we can confirm that a further patient who had tested positive for Covid-19 and had been cared for at Salisbury District Hospital has died. 213 patients in total have now passed away.

"The patient who died on Sunday 2nd May was in his 80s and had underlying health conditions.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the patient’s family and loved ones at this very difficult and distressing time."

The Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust has also confirmed that today (Tuesday 4th May) they currently have five positive in-patients.

LATEST CASES

In the seven days to 29th April, there have been 88 positive cases in Wiltshire.

That's a increase of 14 on the previous week.

This means the county's rolling rate per 100,000 population is at 17.6.

The national average is 23.
