Wiltshire firefighters to take on Saints legends in charity match
Several familiar faces could feature in the match
A team of Dorset and Wiltshire firefighters is taking on a group of ex-Southampton players in a special charity football match.
The match is taking place on Friday 23rd June, with the winners taking home the Brave & Determined Company Cup trophy, courtesy of the non-profit business that supports mental health.
The ex-saints team is expected to feature several familiar faces. Organiser Matt Mullins of Tisbury station said: “While we don’t yet know the team line-up, the ex-Saints squad includes big names including Glenn Cockerill, James Beattie, Tommy Widdrington, Wayne Bridge, David Peach and Francis Benali.
“Former England midfielder Matt Le Tissier is known to turn out for them as well, but he’s not expected at our game. It should be a great night!”
The match will be hosted by Shaftesbury FC at their Coppice Street ground, with kick off at 7pm.
Tickets are £10 for adults, and £5 for U16s/over 65s, with all profits being split between the Fire Fighters Charity and good causes nominated by the Southampton side.
