Final chance to get Covid jab in Salisbury TOMORROW
Vaccines for those who aren't in a vulnerable group will end this week
People in South Wiltshire who have yet to get protected against Covid-19 have one last chance to do so at a community vaccination clinics this week.
Any person yet to have a first vaccine, or in need of the second follow-up dose, can receive their vaccination at the Central Health Clinic on Avon Approach in Salisbury tomorrow (Wednesday 28th June).
Spring booster jabs will also be available for any eligible person, namely the over 75s and people with a weakened immune system, who has yet to take up the offer.
After this Friday (30th June), Covid-19 vaccines will only be available during seasonal vaccination drives, with invitations reserved solely for those who are most at risk.
Gill May, Director of Nursing for the Integrated Care Board which includes Wiltshire said:
“It’s fantastic that the majority of people in our region have had the recommended number of Covid-19 vaccines, but we want to make sure anyone who wants their jab before it’s too late is able to do so.
“These community clinics will be open all day, and the friendly teams will be on hand not only to give the vaccines, but to also talk through any concerns people may have, and to provide those coming along with informed and reliable information.”
People wishing to get vaccinated in Salisbury tomorrow can pre-book an appointment slot via the NHS website or simply walk in on the day.
Some people may still be able to get a vaccine this week from their local pharmacy or GP practice, but these will also cease providing a vaccination service after Friday 30th June.
The next seasonal vaccination drive is scheduled to take place in the autumn, and those who were previously eligible for a spring booster, such as people over the age of 75, will again be invited to come forward.
Providing the Covid-19 vaccine to specific groups of people at certain times of the year, such as when infection rates are expected to increase, will help to keep those who are most susceptible of becoming seriously ill safe and well.
