We've got a final chance to ask National Highways any questions about the A303 Stonehenge tunnel project this afternoon (Tuesday 7th May).

They're holding the last of a series of consultation events at Durrington Village Hall, between 11.00am and 6.00pm.

It comes as preliminary works are paused while the result of legal challenge into the plans is being decided.

Campaigners are asking the High Court for the right to appeal the planning permission given by the Transport Secretary.

The events are also a chance to find out more about the current closure of the A360 north of Salisbury, and the utilities works that are ongoing there in preparation for the A303 Stonehenge project.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are carrying out underground cabling to provide a high voltage power supply for the project’s proposed tunnel and to power the tunnel once constructed.

The A360, cutting across the A303 north to south at Longbarrow roundabout, is due to be shut until mid-July.

Andrew Clark, National Highways’ Senior Project Manager for the scheme, said:

“We’re continuing to work with heritage groups and other stakeholders, and the information events offer the opportunity for local communities, businesses and other interested parties to find out a little more.

“It’s a chance to meet face to face with the teams and for local residents and groups to ask questions about the current enabling works, and to find out more about the scheme in general, and we encourage people to come along.”
