As Salisbury is illuminated in festive decorations, the Christmas spirit does not stop there.

Today (Saturday 21st November) twelve large Christmas Trees have gone up around the city as part of a new trail.

They have all been decorated around the '12 Days of Christmas' theme with 5 gold rings and a partridge in a pear tree both being featured.

It's hoped that people will use their exercise time during lockdown and beyond to visit the new city centre additions.

A trail map is able to be downloaded from the Salisbury City Council website and will take adventurers from Salisbury Cathedral to the Market Place.

A spokesperson for the City Council said:

"Following the government's announcement on Saturday 31 October, the City Council encourages the public to socially distance at all times when taking part in the trail. If there are many people at one tree, please move on to the next one and return later."

There is also a chance for people to win a ÂŁ50 Salisbury Gift Card, as they have to search for a hidden letter at every tree and uncover the festive character and write it down.

Entries can then be posted at the red box at the front of the Guildhall.

The competition runs until Monday 4th January.

MAKE SALISBURY SPARKLE

Salisbury City Council are also asking residents to spread a bit of festive magic this year.

They want people to put their own trees up outside, so anyone going out to do exercise outdoors has something to enjoy whilst they do it.

The Christmas Tree Trail launched on Saturday

They say it will help the city sparkle this Christmas and they will bring much needed cheer during a difficult year.
