Festival in aid of Salisbury's Secret Spitfire charity
“Spitfest 2022” is taking place at Salisbury RFC
The Secret Spitfire Charity is staging free music festival called “Spitfest 2022” at Salisbury RFC today (Sunday 2nd October).
They've teamed up with Music 4 Fun, Salisbury Live and Sarum Live, to raise funds for the Memorial.
Featuring music from nine of Salisbury’s best live acts, there'll also be two open jam sessions from Sarum Live and Music 4 Fun.
It's a free event, and is not ticketed, but those attending are being encouraged to dig deep and donate, with a raffle also being held in aid of the charity.
It is hoped that the event will become an annual fundraiser to ensure the Memorial can be protected and maintained well into the future.
Acts include:
Lump
Ribble Ribble
The Junk Yard Dogs
Southbound
The Clueless Queers
The Hopback Blues Band
CLS
Solarbird
The Flotonics
Doors are open from 3pm till late.
All of the acts and suppliers are donating their time and resources for free – meaning that all profits will go straight to the Secret Spitfire Charity, to aid the maintenance of Salisbury’s Spitfire Memorial.
It is hoped that the event will become an annual fundraiser to ensure the Memorial can be protected and maintained well into the future.
Terri Johnson, the event’s organiser, said:
“Salisbury’s music community are coming together to honour the Secret Spitfires Memorial and ensure the legacy of one of its key figures - Ethem Cetintas, who brought the story of Salisbury’s Secret Spitfires to wider attention – continues. We can’t wait to see everyone there for what promises to be a memorable day.”
Chris Whalley, Chair of the Secret Spitfire Charity added:
“We are delighted that Spitfest is going ahead this October after it was sadly postponed earlier this year. We are very grateful to all involved for giving up their time to support us and hope that everyone enjoys the party!"
