Expensive bikes stolen from New Forest campsites
We're being asked to 'make them as difficult to steal as possible
A number of expensive bikes have been stolen in the New Forest in the last couple of weeks, with Hampshire Police asking us to watch out.
In one case, two bikes were taken form outside a camper van, while the owners were inside and the bikes were locked together.
There's also been electric bikes stolen from locked garages, where they were also locked up inside too.
Officers patrolling the New Forest say they'll be carrying out more proactive checks this summer and also holding a bike marking session later this month.
They've also issued some practical advice:
"Make your bicycles as difficult to steal as possible. Remove wheels and/or saddles and if you are camping try and lock them inside your vehicle.
"If you see anyone acting suspiciously, especially around cars, vans and bicycles call 999."
