A group of young people from Splash Wiltshire, supported by a local artist, have given the Exeter Street underpass in Salisbury a makeover.

The two-day project is second of it’s kind in Salisbury by Splash and was supported by Councillors Sven Hocking and Lynne Blackwood.

The new mural replaces the previous work which displayed the faces of music legends such as Elvis Presley, David Bowie and Michael Jackson and passers-by commented that the ‘excellent’ work of the young people has lightened the underpass, which makes it feel safer.

The new designs were created by Fred Fieber and portray various aquatic creatures in a river.

Splash worker Rachel said: “This was a real community project and it would be wonderful to get local businesses involved in any way that we can.”

Splash has been supporting young people in Wiltshire for almost 35 years and forms part of the ‘Youth Action Wiltshire’, the ‘Youth Arm’ of the Community First charity.
