WIltshire Police say an unauthorised encampment in Amesbury has been lawfully moved on, after concerns were raised by nearby residents.

Around 20 vehicles arrived at Bonnymead Park on Thursday.

Officers are now working to review security at the site.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: "After liaising with the landowner and communicating with those trespassing on the site, we used powers under section 61 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act to direct people and vehicles to leave the area.

"This was enforced on Sunday afternoon (03/09) with all persons leaving the site.

"Work is now underway with the council to prevent further occurrences happening in future."
