Both Dorset and Wiltshire Police say they've found no evidence of any criminal offence, after claims firefighters took photos of female victims at car

Earlier this year, ITV News reported male members of staff at Dorset and Wiltshire fire service (DWFRS) posted images in a WhatsApp group.

It's claimed degrading comments were also made about the victims.

In a joint statement from the two police forces, they've said their investigation has now ended:

"Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police were made aware of the allegations by the DWFRS which centred on limited details relating to the inappropriate sharing of images on messaging platforms.

"Dorset Police conducted proportionate enquiries and have found no evidence to support the allegations made within the ITV report.

"The investigation included opening up an anonymous reporting line and speaking to named individuals within DWFRS and Wiltshire Police.

"Both Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police are satisfied that a thorough investigation has taken place and these enquiries have now concluded."

DWFRS say they're still awaiting the outcome of an independent review into the allegations.

But they've acknowledged the work of police in investigating as well.

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Andy Cole said:

“We thank both Dorset Police and Wiltshire Police for the thorough and robust investigation they have conducted jointly into allegations of inappropriate images being shared by our staff. We hope the outcome provides confidence to our communities about the professionalism they can expect from our Service.

"In respect of the other allegations made by media outlets earlier this year, we will be receiving the report from our Independent Review in the autumn. We are committed to listening to their findings and enacting their recommendations as we continue on our cultural journey.”
