Driving ban handed to Wiltshire man for speeding while 'late for work'
He was going at more than twice the limit on Downton Road in Salisbury
A speeding driver, caught by officers in Salisbury, has been handed a ban after claiming he was going quickly because he was late for work.
43 year old Daniel Walker, from Burbage Wharf in Burbage, was caught driving at 65 mph in a 30 zone, on Downton Road in Salisbury.
He was clocked by Salisbury officer carrying out speed checks there.
Walker has appeared before Swindon Magistrates, where he pleaded guilty to speeding.
As well as a 56 day driving ban, he's been fined £660, and ordered to pay a £66 victim surcharge and court costs of £110.
PC Hammond of the Salisbury Response Team, who caught Walker, said:
“Being late for work is never an excuse for speeding.
“Always plan ahead and make sure you leave plenty of time for your journey and prepare for unexpected delays."
