Wiltshire Police's Specialist Operations team have joined local officers to tackle speeding along the A338 Downton Road.

They were out on Sunday morning (23rd January), near Longford School, checking if drivers were sticking to the 30mph limit.

Eight motorists were caught going at least 45 mph along that stretch.

The highest speed recorded with 49 mph.

All of the drivers were issued with Traffic Offence Reports.

Officers were out on Downton Road after local residents raised concerns about the speed that people travel at.

The stretch of road has plenty of hazards, like a pedestrian crossing close to the BP petrol station; turnings and traffic lights for the park and ride entrance; and further along, Longford C of E Primary School.
