There's an appeal to trace a driver following a collision on the A303 near Chicklade.

Wiltshire officers say a red Mini Cooper left the westbound carriageway, overturned and hit a tree at around 7.00am yesterday (Tuesday 28th may).

But when police arrived, the driver had fled from the scene.

PC Daniel Laurie, from the Roads Policing Unit said:

"This collision caused significant damage and we have concerns about the drivers welfare, who was not at the scene when we arrived.

"From the damage to the vehicle we are concerned that they will need medical attention.

"We have made a number of enquiries including checks with local hospitals and would urge anyone with information to contact us as soon as possible."

Drivers using the A303 who might have seen what happened or have dash cam footage are asked to call Wiltshire Police on 101, quoting reference number 54240061637.
