The Mercedes CLC was originally clocked doing 115mph on the Alderbury bypass at 7.20pm on Sunday 4th April before reaching more than double the limit on a 60mph road.

In a post on social media the Roads Policing Unit explained how the vehicle then took to "narrow lanes to avoid capture."

Wiltshire Police has now confirmed a Notice of Intended Prosecution has been sent to the driver for careless driving, speeding and failing to stop for an officer.

The male driver was not local.
