Police Officers from 'Team 4' in Amesbury were just finishing their shift and heading back to the Police station on New Year's eve when they noticed a VW Passat in front of them 'swerving' from lane to lane on the A303.

CRAZY SPEEDS

The car then accelerated away, reaching speeds of more than 105 mph, before it was eventually stopped.

Police breathalysed the driver who gave a roadside reading of 27 - the legal limit is 35.

STRING OF TRAFFIC OFFENCES

But although the driver wasn't over the drink-drive limit, he was however found to have only a provisional licence, no insurance and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt.

Amesbury Police say this shows that while the limit for drink driving is 35, any alcohol in your system can have a massive effect.

The driver's been reported for a sting of offences, including:

* Driving otherwise than accordance with a licence

* Driving with no insurance

* Driving whilst not wearing a seatbelt

* Careless driving

The vehicle was seized by Police and the driver had to make his own way home.
