A driver who left the scene of a head-on collision then failed to complete a breath test has been banned from the roads for two years.

Police were called to a crash on Bulford Hill, Durrington on the 15th August where a BMW had collided with a car coming in the opposite direction.

Both drivers had initially got out of their vehicles, but then the driver of the BMW left the scene.

Officers carried out a search of the area, and found Bradley Lord, 31, of Brakenbury Road, Larkhill.

They believed he was intoxicated, so tried to conduct a roadside breath test but he refused.

He was arrested and, due to the fact that he’d been involved in a collision, taken to Salisbury District Hospital as a precaution.

While in the hospital waiting room, Lord swore repeatedly in the presence of members of the public, so was further arrested for a public order offence.

Lord then further refused to give permission for a blood sample to be taken for an alcohol test.

He appeared at Salisbury Magistrates Court on Friday (24th September) and pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specific for analysis and a Section 5 Public Order offence.

He was disqualified from driving for 24 months, fined a total of £877 and ordered to pay further costs and surcharges.
