Downton cancer fundraiser brings in over £10K
The Big T's event was set up cancer patient Tony Randall
A fundraiser, set up by a South Wiltshire man who's been battling blood cancer for six years, has brought over £10,000 in for three local charities.
The Big T's Cancer event at Downton Football Club earlier this month included live music and a raffle.
It was set up by Tony Randall, who wanted to give something back for the support he's had during his treatments.
He's posted the fundraising total on social media, describing it as 'whopping and mindblowing'!
The money will be split between three local causes:
- £6,000 for Salisbury Hospice
- £4,000 for the Stars Appeal, towards the Pembroke Cancer ward and the Breast Cancer Unit at Salisbury District Hospital
- £193.42 for Cancer Support Salisbury
Tony said:
"A massive thankyou to the committee for organising everything, the amazing generosity from sponsors and to everybody who donated the incredible raffle prizes and to everyone that came along on the night and made it what it was. I was truly humbled.
"I'm so glad something good like this has been able to come out of this illness, get everyone together in a happy moment and potentially help so many other people."
Tony's also looking to organise more fundraising events at a later date.
