A Collie crossbreed dog is spending her first Christmas at home after being adopted by a staff member at Dogs Trust Salisbury.

Three-year-old Dee arrived at the Newton Tony centre in March 2023, nervous, scared by unfamiliar people and noises, as well as not being used to living indoors.

But Dee worked hard on her training with the Dogs Trust Team, including how to walk on the lead.

Dee has found her forever home in time for Christmas

During her time at the centre, Canine Carer Jessica Long grew close to Dee, subsequently applying to adopt her. Jessica took Dee to her forever home in November and now they look forward to spending Christmas together.

Dee now lives with two Border Collies.

“I'm more than grateful I got to work with her and welcome her into my home, where she now has her own family who love her unconditionally," said Jessica.

"She loves going out for walks – although some things can still be a little scary!"

Centre Manager at Salisbury, Claire Rowe, said Dee had endured tough start to life, but it was "fantastic" that Jessica had been able to adopt her, saying the pair have a "great bond".

Claire added: "After lots of love and hard work from our wonderful staff, Dee started to become more confident, and she has come on leaps and bounds in her training."
