Devizes Cricket Club to get new pavilion
A planning application's been approved by Wiltshire Council
A Wiltshire cricket club is set to get a new pavilion, after Wiltshire Council approved a planning application requesting permission for its construction.
Devizes Cricket Club can now go ahead with its plans for the building on the grounds located off London Road.
The plans say that the proposed pavilion will be of “traditional form and design” and will accommodate both home and away team changing, toilet facilities, storage, an office, and a central area to socialise with room for an informal bar.
The club was formed in 1850 and has been located at the site since 1945.
According to the application submitted to Wiltshire Council, membership at Devizes Cricket Club is expanding, and currently sits at 85 adult members and 65 junior members.
The plans stated: “The proposal will meet the club’s current and future needs allowing it to function independently and economically for its junior and adult male and female members.”
Wiltshire Council informed the club of its approval last week (January 16th).
